Sephora’s “Store of the Future” rethinks the beauty store for digital-first shoppers by blending physical discovery with digital guidance. Developed with Sephora Asia and IDEO, the concept responds to information overload online and the shifting emotional needs of beauty shopping, from playful exploration in makeup to more vulnerable, problem-solving moments in skincare.
The work begins with close observation of how people move, browse, and decide in competing beauty environments. Those insights translate into customized fixture systems that are designed and prototyped at full scale to test spatial flow, product engagement, and interaction. Digital touchpoints are integrated into the fixture language to support decision-making through product details and reviews, reflecting the case study’s focus on blended digital-physical displays and guided engagement zones such as the Play Table, Care Table, and Beauty School.
The concept launched in Singapore (2022) and later expanded to Shanghai (2023).
